You Don’t Have To Give Up Eating

Sunday, March 28th, 2010

Chocolate Chip Cookies just because it’s Passover. For these cookies to be pareve (free of dairy and milk) and kosher for Passover, make sure to use all ingredients that state “pareve” and “kosher for Passover.” Trust me you’ll love them. They have been a staple in my house for years and years.

Ingredients:
• 2 Sticks Margarine Room Temperature
• 1½ cups Sugar
• 2 Eggs
• 1 Tbsp. Orange Juice
• 1 ½ cups Matzoh Cake Meal
• 1 tsp. Potato Starch
• 1 tsp. Salt
• 8 oz. pkg. Chocolate Chips

Preparation:
1. Preheat Oven to 350 degrees F.
2. Grease Cookie Sheets.
3. Cream Margarine and Sugar.
4. Add Eggs and Mix Well.
5. Add All Ingredients Except Chocolate Chips. Mix Well.
6. Stir In Chocolate Chips.
7. Drop By Tablespoons Onto Greased Cookie Sheets.
8. Bake 20 To 25 Minutes, Until Light Brown.
Recipe Yields About 4 Dozen Cookies.

This Holiday is NOT about giving up foods you eat during the year. It is about Freedom. Symbolically we eat different foods to reenact the historical times. It is my most favorite holiday of the year for many reasons too numerous to write about here but it suffices to say that it brings together family and friends and the freedoms that we should never take for granted. That is what life is all about and the true treasures and successes we should all be enjoying. For those less fortunate, reach out with money, kindness of words, and the spirit of the holiday. As in most homes for most religions family dinners do revolve around food so make your holiday table fun and festive. Explore new recipes and recreate those past down to you from generations before you. Have a wonderful and kosher Passover holiday.

When Enough Is Enough

Sunday, March 21st, 2010

The dictionary definition of the word “ENOUGH” is: adequate for the want or need; sufficient for the purpose or to satisfy want or desire. Clearly it is a point in time when we have reached some sort of “limit.” Either a limit of time, need, purpose, or expectation. One would assume when we have had enough we do not need to go or look any further. We are satisfied and content and satiated. Yet, the word can also bring negative connotations with very strong dissatisfaction in the instances where you cannot stand the situation any longer. You will not sit idly by and want to change the conditions and you are anything but content and your needs have not adequately been met at all. The meaning of enough truly moves beyond any form of satisfaction and adequacy. It is really defined by limits. Everyone has their own definition, boundaries, and temperaments. What is enough for one person is definitely not enough for someone else. There are varying degrees of satisfaction and the levels to which any single person or event can be adequately content. In today’s time enough is much more widely represented by a more harshly representation and meaning of impatience and exasperation. One side shows a more tempered and calm explanation as soothing and sufficient. The other outlook is one of total dissatisfaction and annoyance. It comes back to attitude and perspective of life. It’s back to “to each his own.” One person’s “Enough” is not another’s. It explains more than we realize the degrees of difference between us all as we travel through our lives mapping out our paths and places in this world. There is nothing ample or reasonable about the word enough given the vast degrees and levels of satisfaction that it defines. In real estate, when you have rented long enough you buy. When you have owned long enough you sell and then rent. If you do not get enough for your home you stay. Or as a Seller in this market if your home is offered for too long and for too much you have had enough and you reduce the price. As a Buyer if you want a property badly enough you realize now is the time to take advantage of the low low prices. You have waited enough time to make a real estate investment and know that the prices may never be low enough for you but that is when you know Enough is Enough.

For The Realtor Who Wants To Take This Column One Step Further

Sunday, March 14th, 2010

Here goes a little history: when I started writing this column it really was to help out my husband who felt it was a nice touch to reach out to the public in some personal way. This was to go above and beyond the numbers and properties for sale. Week after week he had an idea of what he wanted to say and to be perfectly honest I was behind the scenes with the computer keys. It was fun. I like to write and put thoughts down on paper, or should I say a screen. The articles ran the gamut from property values, to getting your home ready for sale to my most favorite subject which of course is my family. Now specifically, my grandchildren. To coin a famous phrase,” Don’t get me started.” I am consumed by them and would give up every other activity just to be with them. If you have grandchildren you know EXACTLY what I am saying, I think, I hope. I could write about them every week but…. that was not the purpose of “my column.” I wanted it to be a little more interactive. Not like twittering back and forth or spending all day on Facebook, neither of which I do on a regular basis. I don’t twitter and I only check my Facebook page to reconnect with high school friends from Brooklyn and then we communicate via phone or email. (Oh and to look at pictures of my grandchildren.) I appreciate all the comments about my columns but I would like some insight as to what you the reader might want to hear about. I PROMISE this is not going to be a public dialogue as I respect people’s privacy more than I can express. My email address as well as my phone number is printed at the top of this page and I truly would like to know is there information you might like to know more about that you have not seen here on our pages. I will continue to bring you diversity as it’s nice to hear from readers that they look forward to seeing what I may write about each week. Need a great recipe, tips on organization, more up to the minute real estate information, or even community news? Let me know. It’s been nice putting some thoughts down each and every week. We make our living on the right side of this column but to be honest my passion is on this side of the page. Happy reading and let’s start that dialogue going. I am ready.
