New Year … New Shoes

Sunday, September 28th, 2008

As we move from one year to the next I think we hold on to the past as much as we look forward to the future. Many of us will celebrate the holiday, Rosh Hashanah this coming week. It is time for us to pause and really reflect on our time here. What are we doing? Who are we? Why is it important for us to be here? It is time for that wake up call. For each person there is a different answer. No one more right or better than the next. Our memories are what secures us to our past and shapes us and our decisions for our present and future time on this earth. We hold on to the best memories strongly and lovingly. We remind ourselves of them often and seek to surround ourselves with similar thoughts and actions. NEW….homes, babies, and shoes. Each one marking a celebration for the New Year. Growing up new shoes were a symbol of something to start the New Year with. Everyone had to have a new pair of shoes. They were worn proudly and were a definite reminder that it was the start of new beginnings. As you walked and looked down at the brand new shoes you couldn’t help but think about all your wonderful plans and good thoughts for the coming New Year. This is the time of year to reflect and reevaluate what you do here. Be happy. Be grateful. Make good choices for the time you have as it goes by too fast. It’s not about the food that we all complain we cook too much and eat too much. It’s really about the New Shoes and what you will think about and do when you wear them. Take your time and fill your head and heart with good thoughts and plans. Koslovsky Realty wishes everyone a very peaceful, memorable, and meaningful New Year Holiday. Be happy and joyful. May your lives be filled with new homes, new babies, and always new shoes.

Be aware And Get Involved

In our everyday lives we all live in a very small world. Our homes, our families, our jobs are what fill each twenty-four hour period seven days a week. We do what we have to for ourselves and have many responsibilities to attend to. For most of us, and certainly many of those I know personally, there has to be more, and there is. We don’t feel life is complete remaining in our own little bubble moving on each and every day. For those of you out there who haven’t bought into this plan take some time and become aware. Look into all that is beyond your personal life no matter how busy you think you might be. There are issues, causes, and needs of others that have to be looked after. Perhaps it is a cause near and dear to your heart because it affects a family member or friend. Maybe you feel passionate about politics and want to exercise your civic duties. In your neighborhood, there might be a school or hospital in need of volunteers on a variety of levels. Through your religious affiliations, I know there are always a vast amount of projects ongoing that you could join and be part of. It is not difficult and you do not have to go far to make a choice. The news, Internet, and newspapers are excellent resources for staking a claim on a cause to sink you teeth into. Just make the decision that it is your duty the same way you feel the responsibility to go to work or attend to the needs at home. Sitting on the sidelines and doing nothing is NOT an option. Living life with blinders on is just not acceptable. Pick at least one thing that suits your fancy. Be aware and GET INVOLVED. Make a donation, give your time, and be passionate about it. Life is better when you reach outside your own world and do something for someone other than yourself. I never heard anyone agree to the contrary.

Relying On Each Other

Sunday, September 14th, 2008

Nobody works in a vacuum or in isolation from one another. All industries have a circle of related fields. The medical world reaches out to other doctors, hospitals, health professionals, pharmaceutical and insurance companies. Even an independent writer has to rely on the illustrator, the editor, publisher, and public relations. In the real estate world we surround ourselves in our office with agents and staff who take their profession seriously with astute skills and great ethics. They practice what the Broker sets forth as the tone of the firm. But we do not do it alone. After the transaction is in place we need to trust its completion with inspectors, banks, mortgage companies, attorneys and title companies. Clients often have their own relationships with the additional services required to bring the deal to a close but not always. We can suggest some or all of the necessary professionals they require. In addition, Sellers might need a mover, or final cleaning service. Buyers are also looking for painters, contractors, and decorators. We all work together in a “symbiotic” relationship and hope we can rely on each other. As we suggest a few in these service industries they in turn, we hope, remember us when they hear someone wants to buy or sell. Recommendation in every walk of life is key to longevity in any work force. Decorators rely heavily on reputation as well, and have reached out to the real estate community as the sales in real estate had dropped considerably. It was our pleasure to recommend Interiors by Steven G. to a recent client who was thrilled with his abilities to transform their recent purchase into their dream home away from home. We all need each other to do our jobs, no matter what the industry. Let’s pull it all together and rely on each other as we do what we all do best.
