Expiration Dates And Due Dates

Sunday, July 20th, 2008

The reminders in our lives that guide us: those ever loving expiration and due dates. Food we should no longer buy and/or eat, medicine that will not have the same effect, coupons and special offers that will no longer be useful, and all sorts of policies such as auto, homeowners, and health insurance that will no longer be active after a specific date usually due to non payment. We are told when our many credit card, mortgage, and auto lease payments are due, library books are due back, reports and deadlines are due at work and school. All with nasty and often times severe consequences if not complied with. Then of course there are the follow-up reminders when those dates have passed. And if notices in the mail were not enough for us, we subject ourselves now to excessive reminders on email because we “signed up” for what we thought was an easier and less stressful way to take care of those little reminders in our daily lives. What were we thinking? Then we have the Expiration Dates of life. I mean REAL life. The dates when all the above ceases to matter at all. None of it. Life is so much more than those reminders above. Much more than payment dates and policy cancellations. But in these stressful economic times it is easy to forget that. For that we have the Due Dates of REAL life. The impending awe inspiring times as new life will come into this world and remind us how beautiful life is and always was. At Koslovsky Realty we listen carefully as the media projects on a daily basis when the slump will expire, when the economy will turn around. It is a cycle and will constantly turn around. You will not receive a notice in the mail or an email. Just call us or come in. No expiration dates for us. The time to buy is now. We are ready for you.

The Real Value and Measure of Time

Tuesday, July 8th, 2008

The moon, the tide, the clock, the calendar all mark time for us and keep the measures in check. We know how to keep appointment books, personal date planners, and Microsoft Outlook. Setting schedules, planning vacations, flights, and lunch dates are what we do best. But how much do we really VALUE the time we have. Until “something” happens in our lives especially in regard to health or money, we take the value of time for granted. There is so much talk about waste in the environment, food, and precious natural resources. There is little concern about the true value of time. “Wake up and smell the coffee,” or “a stitch in time saves nine,” are popular phrases trying to give us a lighthearted view of time measurement. For each of us time means something else. To the workaholic there is never enough time for work and for the avid reader time just flies as one gets lost as the story unfolds. To the persistent golfer the four hours can be fun but trying, and to the home seller time is passing too slowly as they anxiously await buyers hoping for an offer. For me, life is never better than when I am with my family, especially my nuclear one. To know me is to know my kids and my husband are the air I breathe. In our busy lives and with grown children who have their own lives, the value of the time together is savored with every passing moment. On the few occasions that we can ALL be together, life is never sweeter. For those rare opportunities, money and work don’t factor in. They are secondary and are not allowed to be obstacles for the TIME together. There is no going back and doing it over. You do not get another chance to have that time again. NEVER. Of course there will be new situations, but absolutely those hours, days, and months never come again. So, as we all celebrate the birthday of this great country of ours this coming July 4th weekend, treasure each moment in your own special way. It belongs to you and no one else. Our values are personal and so precious. I will take special time to think about my father-in-law who was so proud to be an American and who sadly passed away two years ago this weekend. He was the ultimate appreciator of how you spend your time especially when it was for family and enjoyment. Half our calendar year is already over. Less than six months left for 2008. How will you spend the rest of this year, this month, and this weekend? Don’t let life and times just pass you by. Take charge of your time account and make every moment count. Spend it wisely and with great consideration. Value each moment you have. It is yours to treasure.
